Weak vs Strong acids and bases
How and why would the pH of a solution differ if you use a weak base instead of a strong?

A strong base would have a higher pH because it accepts more protons.

Re: Weak vs Strong acids and bases
a weak base will not dissociate completely, so it won't yield as many OH- ions in the solution, and since a strong base does dissociate completely the OH- concentration is much higher in a solution with a strong base than one with a weak base.

stronger bases will have a higher ph whereas strong acids will have a lower ph.

pH shows the concentration of hydronium ions in the solution. Weak acids result in a low concentration of hydronium ions because the hydrogen doesn't dissociate easily, therefore resulting in a less acidic solution (pH closer to 7).
