6B.9

Postby Doris Cho 1D » Sat Dec 07, 2019 2:17 am

i'm just checking to make sure i did it right because i think there are some problems with the solutions manual, but for (iv) does:
[H30+] = 5.62x10^-15
[OH-]=1.78
pH=14.25
pOH=.75 ?

also, for (iii), does [OH-] = 5.62 x 10^-14 or -15?

for (iv):
pOH = 0.75 (given)
[OH-]= 10^-(0.75) = 0.0178 M
pH = 14 - pOH = 14 - 0.75 = 13.25
[H30+] = 10^-(13.25) = 5.62 x 10^-14 M

for (iii):
pH = 0.75
pOH = 14 - pH = 14 - 0.75 = 13.25
[OH-] = 10^-(13.25) = 5.62 x 10^-14 M
[H30+] = 10^-(0.75) = 0.0178 M
