How do you know if an acid is weak?

Weak acids generally don't give off their H+ ions as easily as strong acids. It will generally give you the pKa value of an acid since every proton of a weak acid doesn't dissociate.

if given the equation for the acid, it should have a double sided arrow to separate products and reactants

So if an equation has the double arrows, then it is a weak acid, but if the arrow is only one way, then it is a strong acid?

Weak acids don't completely ionize in a solution. All the H+ ions will not separate from the molecules whereas in a strong acid they will.
