resonance in relation to pH

Postby Nohemi Garcia 1L » Sat Dec 07, 2019 9:44 pm

How does resonance affect the pH of an acid/base?

Resonance allows for the delocalization of electrons, so that reduces the strength of the H-O bond, which allows the acid to be stronger.

I believe that if a molecule has resonance, it has a lower pka, and thus making it more acidic.
