pH range
Is it possible for a pH level to go under 0 or above 14? Is it possible for hydronium concentrations to be above 1M (for pH less than 0) or hydroxide concentrations more than 1M (for pH greater than 14)?

Re: pH range
Yes, it is indeed possible to have pH outside of the range from 0 to 14. For example, if you had a solution of 10M HCl (a strong acid), you would find the pH = -log(H+) to be -1. Of course, this would be a tremendously strong acid solution. Likewise for very strong bases, if you had a solution of 10M NaOH (a strong base) you'd find the pOH = -log(OH-) to be -1 and thus the pH to be 15.
Re: pH range
Yes, the range is 0-14. This is rare but it shows that it is either a very strong acid/base.
