What is an oxyacid? And how does electronegativity relate to acid strength?

Oxyacids are acids containing oxygen, and the strength of the acid increases as electronegativity increases because the bond between oxygen and hydrogen becomes more polar as electronegativity increases.

Stronger oxoacids contain more polarized O–H bonds. The more electronegative the central atom is, the more polarized the O–H bond will be. When answering these types of questions, it would be helpful to consult the periodic table to establish these trends and then see which compound is most acidic and which is least acidic.

To elaborate on the last two answers, the more polar bond allows the Hydrogen to dissociate more easily from the central atom, making it more likely to fully dissociate and be a stronger acid
