pH question on final
Do we need to know how to calculate the pH for the final? If so, is it for specific acids and bases or both strong and weak acids and bases?

Re: pH question on final
I believe it should be helpful to know how to calculate the pH, but since he puts more emphasis on KA and pKA values, it would be better to focus on those. And since he explicitly tells us that there are no KA values for strong acids (same thing for KB and bases), it should be easy to figure out whether it is a strong acid or base.
Re: pH question on final
It would be good to know how to calculate pH for the final but also pOH as that may also be on it. You calculate both in the same way using -log10. If you do know the pH or pOH you will know if it is a strong or weak acid/base.

Re: pH question on final
As we went through some examples of calculating pH in lectures, I think it would be good to be familiar with it. Also understanding the meaning of and how to find KA and pKA is probably a good idea.

Re: pH question on final
We will almost definitely need to be able to calculate pH on the final, considering it was on both the Achieve HWs and the assigned textbook questions.
Re: pH question on final
Yes, I think there will definitely be at least 1 question where we will need to calculate pH on the final.

Re: pH question on final
We will probably have to calculate pH, pOH, [H+] and [OH-] using the formulas, similar to the week 10 achieve problems.

Re: pH question on final
pH calculations will definitely be on the final, and I think you should probably focus on the ones we see on practice problems and achieve.
