Strong Acids and Bases

Postby Tiffany Wu 1K » Wed Nov 30, 2016 2:41 pm

For determining whether an acid/base is strong, is there a way to know if it completely ionizes?

If an acid is considered strong, that means it completely ionizes so we can say that the concentration of the acid equals the concentration of Hydronium ions. You would not be able to know if if the acid or base completely ionizes unless you know it is strong.

This question goes along with my question... I know that you it depends on whether the acid or base gives fully or take fully, but how do you know which ones fully do or partially do?
