H2S and HCl

Postby Mallika Singh 1G » Sun Dec 08, 2019 3:52 am

Why is HCl the stronger acid? Is there any other reason we should be aware of other than that its more electronegative?

Cl being more electronegative is the reason HCl is the stronger acid, and as far as I know this is the only explanation we have to be aware of!

Since Cl is more electronegative it will be able to ionize more easily since the bond is weaker. When it comes to acids and bases the ability to ionize is what matters since that is what will producing the pH or pOH.
