The question is Write the chemical equations for the proton transfer equilibria and identify conjugate base for H2SO4. The answer is the conjugate base is HSO4-. Why is it not SO4 2-?

When finding the conjugate base or acid, you are assuming that it is interacting with one water molecule, which would make it HSO4-.
