What are the steps for calculating the pH of a salt?

To calculate pH of a salt, determine if its ions are acidic or basic. After this, calculate pH as you would for a normal weak acid/weak base solution.
For example, with NH4Cl, we know that Cl- is neutral and NH4+ is acidic. With a given concentration of.1 molar, you would just set x^2/.1 =Ka of NH4+ and solve for x, which is H+ concentration. Then take the -logx to find pH.
