relationship of oxoacid?
hello -- this was kind of brought up briefly but I'm not sure if this is something that we talked more about or if we should know-- could someone explain how to determine the relationship between number of atoms in an oxoacid and the strength of an oxoacid?

Re: relationship of oxoacid?
The strength of an oxoacid increases as the number of oxygen atoms attached to Z(the element) increases. For oxoacids with the same number of oxygens, oxoacid strength increases as the electronegativity of Z or atoms attached to Z increases.
Re: relationship of oxoacid?
Hi, something that affects the strength of an oxoacid is the amount of oxygen atoms it has and the stability of its conjugate base. The more oxygen atoms an oxoacid has the more acidic it is. This also means that the conjugate base is more stable.
