Strong acid / base ion
If a salt containing the anion of a strong acid or the cation of a strong base is dissociated in water, is it safe to assume that the ions will remain dissociated and the solution pH change is negligible?

Re: Strong acid / base ion
Yes! A dissociated strong acid will not re-protonate, so the solution will remain neutral, and a strong base will not pull OH- from water when dissociated so that will also remain neutral.

That's correct, the strong acid and base will kind of cancel out each other's effects.

Yes, the ions in the strong acids and bases will completely dissociate and the pH of the end solution will be neutral. As Brandon said, you can basically think of it as the two cancelling each other out.

Yes, I think the ions of strong acids and bases will stay dissociated in the solution because of the way they interact with H+ and OH- from H2O.

The ions in the strong acid and base will completely dissociate and the solution will then be neutral.

Hi! You're right, the ions of the strong acid/base will completely dissociate in water and the pH will be neutral.

Yes, what you described is correct. One of the simplest examples of this is the formation of NaCl in the products. The strong acid and strong base "cancel each other out" so the salt doesn't affect the pH.

Yes if both the cation and anion is from a strong acid/base, then the pH will not change.
