Hi, The textbook answer to this question says b. I was wondering why it would be this answer (where the elements don't have bonds amongst them) compared to the molecules that do have bonds.

Since hydrochloric acid is a strong acid it will completely disassociate in water so there will be no bonds between the chlorine and hydrogen
