Re: Achieve Week 10 #7
Both the anion and cation of LiNO3 come from a strong acid and a strong base, the Li cation comes from the LiOH strong base and the NO3 anion comes from HNO3, a strong acid, thus both compounds neutralize each other, making LiNO3 a neutral salt

LiNO3 is neutral because it is prepared from a strong base (LiOH) and a strong acid (HNO3).

To determine whether the salt formed is acidic, basic, or neutral, we have to look at its parent acid and base.
if we have:
strong acid+ strong base= neutral salt
strong acid+weak base= acidic salt
weak acid+ strong base= basic salt
Li is a gr2 element, and its Li2+ anion comes from a strong Li(OH)2 base, while NO3-2 comes from a strong acid H2NO3
if we have:
strong acid+ strong base= neutral salt
strong acid+weak base= acidic salt
weak acid+ strong base= basic salt
Li is a gr2 element, and its Li2+ anion comes from a strong Li(OH)2 base, while NO3-2 comes from a strong acid H2NO3

LiNO3 is neutral because both of the anion and cation are derived from strong acid and strong base. Li comes from LIOH and NO3 from HNO3.

Basic salts, neutral salts, and acid salts are the three types of salts. A neutral salt is created when a strong base combines with a strong acid. Because LiNO3 is made from a strong base (LiOH) and a strong acid (HNO3), it is neutral.
Re: Achieve Week 10 #7
LiNO3 has both the cation and the anion of a strong acid and strong base meaning that they will neutralize each other making the salt neutral.

Re: Achieve Week 10 #7
LiNO3 is neutral and neither acidic or basic because it contains a cation from a strong base and an anion from a strong acid. Li comes from the strong base LiOH and NO3 comes from the strong acid HNO3, so they cancel each other out, making it neutral.
