Weak VS Strong Acids and Bases
How are we able to differentiate between strong and weak acids and bases?

You would have to essentially memorize the strong and weak acids and bases. I recommend using notecards to be able to memorize them.

In order to identify strong acids and bases I would simply recommend learning the strong acids since there are only 7 and identifying the pattern that exists in strong bases (that being ending in OH and being diatomic oxide). From there you could rule out your weak acids and bases.

I would just memorize all the strong acids and all the strong bases as there aren't that many of them. Whatever acid or base you come across that isn't a strong acid or base would then be a weak acid/base.

There's very few strong acids are. In fact, there's only seven and they are: [HCl] Hydrochloric Acid, [HNO3] Nitric Acid, [H2SO4] Sulfic Acid, [HBr] Hydrobromic Acid, [HI] Hydroiodic Acid, [HClO4] Perchloric Acid, and [HCIO3] Chloric acid. A common trend is that they tend to have a hydrogen in front of them and anything that isn't in the strong acids list is a weak acid. Stong bases tend to have an "OH" towards the end of the chemical equation. Happy studying! ^^

I suggest looking at the list Lavelle made and just try to memorize them because it would really help when taking the exams
