identifying neutral salts

Postby 005754305 » Fri Feb 03, 2023 5:49 pm

Do strong bases produce neutral salts? or is it only strong acids that make neutral salts?

Strong bases will produce neutral cations, and strong acids will produce neutral anions. Meanwhile, cations from weak bases and anions from weak acids will be acid and basic respectfully. So, a mixture of a strong acid and strong base will be neutral, strong acid and weak base will be acidic, weak acid and strong base will be basic, and weak acid weak base depends on their relative strengths.

Thank you, I was also confused on how to identify neutral salts.
