Relationship between acids and bases

Does a high pka value equate to a strong cojugate base?

Hi! A larger pKa for the conjugate acid indicates a stronger base. For indicating base strength directly we use pKb, in which case a smaller value is more basic. Hope this helps!

Hi, no it doesn't! A higher pKa value will mean that we have a weaker acid/stronger conjugate base. The pKa value is going to be the -log(Ka) ((Ka being the acid dissociation constant)) and it will measure the strength of the acid. A higher pKa value is an indicator that the acid is less likely to donate a proton. I hope this helped!

Hii, not quite a higher pKa just meanest that we have a weak acid and a stronger conjugated base. therefore it will most likely donate a proton
