hello everyone-- I wanted to ask what are spectator ions? and how do they affect calculating the pH of salt solutions?

Spectator ions are not used in a reaction, so they do not affect the pH.

Spectator ions are present but don't have a charge neither in the beginning nor after the reaction. Im not really sure if they affect ph of salt but to my understanding they do not have an effect. hope this helps!

spectator ions are present, but not used up in a reaction.
