classifying acidity/basicity of NaClO

Because Na only has a 1+ charge, it cannot be considered an acidic cation right? So, ClO is the only ion reacting with water? Is it the only component in determining the pH of this salt solution?

ClO- + H2O-<-> HClO + OH-


Because ClO- is the conjugate base of a weak acid, NaClO is a basic salt right?

In the case that Al is substituted for Na is Al3+ considered to be an acidic cation? Then how do you determine the pH of AlClO3?

Na is not an acidic cation not because of its charge, but because NaOH is a strong acid and ionizes completely in water.
So yes, ClO is the only ion reacting with water and the determining the pH.
And NaClO is basic and your reason is correct
For AlClO3, I think we need the specific ka and kb of Al and ClO3 to calculate the pH
