Why does Cu(NO3)2 make the solution more basic? The reaction I got is Cu(NO3)2 + H20 -> CuO + H2(NO3)2

The answer key says the solution is actually more acidic! The equation it has is Cu(H2O)63+ (aq) + H2O (l) ⇋ H3O+ (aq) + Cu(H2O)5OH+ (aq)

Why is that the answer? It doesn't make sense to me.
