pH Sig Figs

Postby Chantel_2I » Tue Dec 03, 2019 11:55 pm

Do leading zeros after the decimal count as significant figures in pH? for example, if there is a pH of 3.043, does the zero count as a sig fig?

yes, the only thing that has no significance is anything to the left of the decimal point.

the zero acts as a placeholder after the decimal so it is counted as a part of the sig fig.

The number of numbers after the decimal when finding pH should be equal to the number of sig figs.
