weak acid/base and pH
So in general a weak base will raise the pH and a weak acid will lower the pH, right?

Re: weak acid/base and pH
A weak base will not raise the pH as much as a strong base would and that also goes for weak acids as they are incompletely protonated/deprotonized.

Yes, remember that acidic solutions have lower pH (so on the left side of the scale), while more basic solutions have higher pH (right side of the scale).

Yes, but the stronger the acid/base, the more significant the change will be.

Yes, an acid (strong or weak) will lower the pH of a solution while a base (strong or weak) will raise the pH of a solution. Remember a pH of 7 is neutral, 0 is the most acidic, and 14 is the most basic.

Re: weak acid/base and pH
If the salt has the anion of a weak acid, it will make the solution basic. If the salt has a cation of a weak base, it will make the solution acidic.
Re: weak acid/base and pH
As those above have stated, yes. The stronger the acid(towards 0)/base(towards 14) the greater the impact.

Re: weak acid/base and pH
Yep! This happens cuz weak acids have pH's lower than 7 and weak bases have pH's over 7, so they usually will be lowering or raising the pH.
