Yes, you can find pOH if you have pH and vice versa. It can be done as long as you know that at room temperature, pOH+pH is equal to 14. As a result, if you have information on one, you can use that concentration to find the other. I hope this helps!

Yes, you can. This is because the equilibrium constant of water Kw = [H3O+] [OH-]. So when we take the log of both sides, you get log(1 x 1014) = log(H3O+) + log(OH-). So when you simplify both sides and multiply both sides by -1, you get
14 = -log(H3O+) - log(OH-), which is 14 = pH + pOH.

Yes, you can! If you know the pH, you can use the equation pH+pOH=14 (keep in mind that this is at standard temperature). So, for example, if you have a pH of 5, then the pOH would be 9.

The pOH = -log[OH-]
The pH is measure of acidity of a solution whereas the pOH is a measure of basicity of a solution.

Yes, pOH + pH should equal 14. Think of them as opposite scales. In the pH scales any number below 7 is acidic, and above 7 is basic, while in the pOH scale any number below 7 is basic while above 7 is acidic.

Hi! As everyone said above, you can determine pOH from pH since they're related. As pH increases, pOH decreases and the same can be said the other way that when pOH increases, pH decreases. pH is the "potential of hydrogen" and pOH is the measurement of hydroxide ions in any concentration. They should add up to 14. Hope that helps.

pOH = 14 - pH. In other words, pOH + pH = 14. If you know either pH or pOH, it is simple to find the other one. You can tell that there is a relationship between pH and pOH since they are dependent on the concentrations of H+ and OH- respectively, which are in themselves related to one another.

yes! pH = 14 - pOH and vice versa (pOH = 14 - pH). take for example, the pH of water is 7. both the H+ and OH- concentration are 10^-7. that means the pH would be 7 and the pOH would be 7. pH + pOH = 14, (7) + (7) = 14, which is what was stated above.

As everyone else said, the two simply add up to 14. Additionally, the rest of the calculations for pH and pOH can be determined from a single value. For example, if you are given the [H+] concentration of a solution, you can determine the pH with -log([H+]). Then you can subtract the result from 14 to get pOH. Similarly, you can get reverse the equation if you are given the pOH of a solution, you can determine the [-OH] by doing 10^-pOH (also 10^-pH from [H+]). It is all a matter of small calculations, which I think are easy wins for the final! Best of luck :)

Yes you can. 14-pOH=pH and 14-pH=pOH. If you have one value from pH, pOH, [H+], or [OH-] then you are able to find the values for the rest in the list.

At room temperature, the sum of pH and pOH always equals 14. Therefore, if we know one and we know that the solution is under room temperature conditions we can find the other.

pOH is calculated by subtracting your calculated pH value from 14, while pH is calculated by subtracted your calculated pOH value from 14. This is how you would be able to determine both values if you already know one.

Hi! First, to find the pH value, you use this equation: pH=-log[H+]. Once you have the pH value, you can subtract it from 14 to find the pOH. The highest pH attainable is 14, therefore the following equation exists: pH + pOH = 14. If you are trying to find the pH when given [OH-] you have to first find the pOH. The equation for pOH is pOH=-log[OH-]. You just subtract the pOH value from 14 to find your pH! I hope that helped!

Yup! As the other answers have said, pOH+pH = 14. Therefore, if you have just the pH, you subtract it from 14 to get the pOH. And if you have the pOH, you subtract it from 14 to get the pH.

One can derive the pOH from pH because the addition of 2 equals 14. The concentrations of [H+][OH-] = 1.0 * 10^-14 and when anti logged is 14.

Yes! At room temperature (25 degrees Celsius) you can assume that the pH + pOH = 14. Using this equation you can plug in the value for pH/pOH in order to solve for the missing value.

Yes you can find pH from pOH and vice versa. Because pH + pOH = 14, all you need is either pH or pOH and then subtract it from 14. For example, if the pH is 5, the pOH would be 9 because 14 - pH = pOH / 14-5=9. The same method would be used to finding pH if pOH is given.
