Chapter 13 #5

Postby Ethan_Kato_1D » Fri Dec 02, 2016 10:49 pm

For a. What is the concentration of hydronium ions in a solution that is 0.075 M HCN (aq) and 0.060 M NaCN(aq)?

Why can you not use the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation to solve this? As opposed to 13.7?

I think you can use the Henderson-Hasselbalch for #5 (as in #7), but it would be easier to use an ice table because this question only asked for the concentration of hydronium ions instead of pH. This means if you use the H-H equation you will have to convert from pH to [H+] which is an additional step.
