Exercise 13.5 (b)

Postby Amy Wu 1D » Tue Aug 01, 2017 12:51 am

13.5 What is the concentration of hydronium ions in:
(b) a solution that is 0.20 m NH2NH2(aq) and 0.30 m NaCl(aq)?

The solutions manual says that NaCl has no effect, which makes sense. However, how do we know that NH2NH2 is a base and not an acid when writing the equilibrium equation?

Because of the N atom lone pair that can pickup H+.
