Buffer Capacity

Postby Samantha Rundle 3K » Sun Nov 29, 2015 2:41 pm

If we are told to find the pH of a buffer and it is not equal to the pKa, does that mean the buffer is weak?

Thanks!

The pH doesn't always have to equal the pKa. When pH = pKa the buffer is at its optimum buffering capacity. However, the buffer remains effective if the pH is +/- 1 of the pKa
