How can you decipher what salts are involved in a certain reaction? Like how can you determine the outcomes or products within a buffer?

If it's a cation and an anion, then you can assume its a salt. Overtime, common salts become familiar. Use the Henderson-Hasselbach equation (pH = pKa + log (A-)/(HA)) to determine the pH of buffer solutions.
