Under what circumstances would I need to use the Henderson- Hasselbalch equation?

The Henderson-Hasselbalch equation is used for problems involving pH. ICE tables are used when you change concentrations or have different initial and ending equilibriums. The problems usually involve weak acids/bases and salts. Another key term to look for is "buffers" because it will probably indicate that you need to use the H-H equation. Hope I interpreted your question correctly!
