Titration is a method of determining the concentration of OH- in a base if the basic solution's concentration is unknown or H30+ if the acidic solution's concentration is unknown. Essentially, during titration, one continually drops small amounts of an acid or base of known concentration into a solution of acid or base of unknown concentration—if what is being dropped is an acid, then the unknown solution is basic and vice versa—until one reaches an equilibrium point where the unknown solution is neutral. At that equivalence point, you know OH- and H30+ have an equal concentration in the solution of unknown concentration, so then you calculate the moles of H30+, if the dropped solution was acidic, by multiplying the volume you dropped by the concentration of that solution since it is known. The number of H3O+ moles is equal to the number of OH- moles because the solution is neutral at that point. So now, you just take the concentration of OH- and divide it by the original volume of the solution of unknown concentration and you now have the concentration of OH- of the unknown solution, which is, as I said before, the purpose of titration.
