A polyprotic compound has multiple places where it can be deprotonated. The Hs can be taken off, and there are multiple of them.

Hello! A polyprotic acid are acids that lose various protons per each molecule during reaction that involve both acids and bases. On the other hand a polyprotic base accepts at least one hydrogen proton per acid-base reaction.

Polyprotic acids are acids that are able to be deprotonated more than once. For instance, H2SO4: 1) H2SO4 + H2O ----> HSO4^- + H+ 2) HSO4^- + H20 ----> SO4^2- + H+.
