Weak acid/strong base titrations with M(OH)2 bases

Postby Izzy Ick 4B » Sun Dec 06, 2015 8:07 pm

If you were doing a titration with a weak acid and a strong base like Ca(OH)2 (2x OH-), how would your calculations change when you are trying to find the pH of the solution?

Hi Izzy,

All steps would be carried out the same as if you were titrating with NaOH for example. The only difference would be that when you set up your ice table, it would be 2 OH -, and the change would be +2x, so when you set up your Kb Equation, the OH term would be: (2x)^2. Everything else will remain the same.
