Boltzmann Equation

Postby 204635822 » Mon Jan 25, 2016 1:18 pm

Can someone please explain the Boltzmann equation for me. Where do we get those values for W Kb and S?

is Boltzman's constant which equals to 1.38x10^-23. This will be given to you. W is the degeneracy which is defined as numbers of ways you can arrange the system. It is calculated as 2^n for 2-state system (left tank- right tank) with n= number of molecules. If you have 3 states system it will become 3^n and so forth. S is the entropy and Boltzman equation is the statistical definition of entropy.
