Even though in the heat equation, n is usually used in moles, are we just allowed to use grams in this problem since that is what is given to us? Or do we convert? I got the correct answer without converting to moles so I was wondering if that is okay to do.

Yea, because it is given in grams you just use that. Depending on what is given, either grams or moles, you can switch n (mol) and m (mass, so grams) for each other I believe.
