State functions

Postby Lauren_Wiegand_2K » Sat Mar 16, 2024 12:25 am

Hi! I’m not sure if this is the right category for this, but I was wondering if q and w are the only 2 non-state functions we’ve learned? Is everything else state functions? If not can you give examples of other things that aren’t state functions

Hi! I'm pretty sure that from the concepts we've covered, the only non-state functions are q and w. Like you said, everything else such as Gibbs free energy (G), enthalpy (H), entropy (S), internal energy (U), mass, pressure, temperature, volume, etc. are all state functions and path independent.
