Achieve Week 3&4 Question 3
Hi! I just had a question regarding problem 3 from the weeks 3 & 4 achieve assignment. So an endothermic process absorbs energy from the surroundings, often making it feel cool. Can someone explain why baking a cake would be considered endothermic rather than exothermic? Thank you!
Re: Achieve Week 3&4 Question 3
Baking a cake requires it absorbing heat energy from the oven that is why it is endothermic
Re: Achieve Week 3&4 Question 3
In order to bake a cake, the oven (the surroundings of the cake “system”) increases the temperature to raise the temperature inside the cake batter and bake the cake. The cake batter is the system in this case, and it absorbs the heat from the oven surroundings in order to bake! This is why it’s endothermic :)
Re: Achieve Week 3&4 Question 3
Baking a cake bater, heat myst be absorbed from the oven so the batter is able to absorbs the heat, which the water in side the cake batter will eventually evaporate, with this, it's an example of an endothermic process, has to take in heat from the surroundings in order to bake properly.
