The Heating Curve Graphical Comparisons of C

On the heating curve, when the enthalpy increase (q at constant pressure) increases the temperature (and we have a diagonal line with a positive slope) there is something very useful for which to take note: The lower the C (heat capacity) of the substance in a given phase, the steeper (more positive) the slope of the line, and visa-versa. This is because the units of the heating curve (inc T /q) are the inverse of the units of C (q/inc T).
