How do you know that NO2 has a higher molar heat capacity than NO?

Molar heat capacity is the heat required to raise the temperature of 1 mol of a substance by 1 degree C. The reason why NO2 has higher molar heat capacity is because it has more molecular complexity than NO. Due to this, it would take more heat to raise the temp of 1 mol for NO2

Molar heat capacity is the amount of energy it takes to raise the temperature of 1 mole of a substance by 1 degree Celsius. Since NO2 is a stable molecule, it needs more energy in order to raise its temperature. NO is a radical, and very unstable, so its bonds are not very strong. Thus, its heat capacity is lower than that of NO2.
