From a problem, how can you tell whether to use q=mc delta t or q=nc delta t?

There is truly no difference between the two equations. They can be used for any problem, but depending on your preference of units, either equation is reasonable. mcdeltaT is used when the problem include moles for the amount of substance whil ncdeltaT is when the problem states the amount of substance in grams.
