Phase Changes

Postby Aditya Mamtora 2C » Sat Jan 28, 2017 5:59 pm

Why is it that during a phase change, the temperature can still remain the same if heat is still being added?

It's because the heat being added is used to to break bonds and other things like that so the temperature isn't going up until all bonds are broken.

During a phase change, the objective is to break the bonds from phase to phase so the energy of the temperature added is used to break those bonds rather actually change the temperature until the phase change is over.
