What's a method to increase the internal energy of a closed system?

To increase the internal energy of a closed system, you can heat the system and/or perform work on the system.
You can heat the system using an external heat source, and you can perform work on a system by compressing the system (like compressing a bike pump).

Yes the above reply is correct. Recall that in a closed system, energy can be transferred by the system to the surroundings, but matter cannot be transferred by the system to the surroundings. Therefore, the internal energy of the system can be changed by work and heat applied to or by the system to/from the surroundings.

It is only isolated systems where neither matter nor energy can be transferred in or out of the system. In a closed system, energy is freely transferred throughout the system, but not matter. Heating or cooling by altering the surrounding temperature will have an effect in energy of the system

In a closed system you can add or subtract heat or do work to it since energy can pass through.

A closed system can have energy exchange with the surroundings

According to the equation: △U=q+w, you can both haet the container (closed system) or do work on the system.

Because energy is transferred in closed systems, adding or subtracting heat will affect the energy.

For a closed system, we can change the energy of the system by heating or cooling it as well as by doing work on it. An example in the notes of work done on the system is compressing a piston or letting the system do work on the surroundings causing the piston to move out.
For an open system, we can add or remove the amount of substance in the system.
