On Outline 1 on Lavelle's website, it states this as the last learning goal bullet: "Understand the environmental impact of burning fossil fuels, and the use of alternative
fuels". Will we have to know this even though Lavelle did not cover this in lecture?

Re: Environmental impact?
Since he has not covered it in lecture, I would be very surprised if this was tested on the midterm. The only way I could see it being tested is perhaps in the background in a conceptual question.

Re: Environmental impact?
I would assume that the question he would ask would have to do with a temperature raise in the atmosphere (like how we use q=-q) but I doubt it will be covered on the exam.
Re: Environmental impact?
Agreed with the others but probably just the heat change from surroundings and system and such.

Re: Environmental impact?
It would probably just include the environmental impact (surroundings and such) as context for a problem, but I doubt we would need to memorize how to deal with a complex problem dealing specifically in it.

Re: Environmental impact?
I don't think so, I think there were only be system/surroundings stuff that relate to the environment.

Re: Environmental impact?
I do not think you will be required to know the environmental impact of burning fossil fuels for the final since Lavelle hasn't covered it. I think that he included it because it's an important and relevant concept to understand especially in today's society, but we will not be tested on it.
