Modules

Postby Riya Shah 4H » Fri Jan 25, 2019 5:19 pm

Are the modules on Dr. Lavelle's website compulsory?

No, they are not counted towards your grade at all. The modules are just for you to refer to if you need extra help or want to review basics. In my opinion, its good to do them, especially the quizzes for extra practice.

The videos he posts with them are very similar to the lectures in class too so if you forget to write something down or miss something, those videos are very helpful.

The modules are optional. The post assessments are pretty helpful however if you want extra practice.

The modules on the class website only covered equilibrium, which finished week 1.

Are there any modules for any of the other topics or was it just chemical equilibrium?

Do the modules tell you your score at the end? Or are they just for practice?

The modules give you a score on the post-assessment and tell you which questions you got wrong, but they do not show the correct answer.

No, but they are good practice.

Lavelle posted the modules for only the first two sections in Chem 14A, so he may only post chemical equilibria modules for 14B.

I read somewhere that the post module assessments are mandatory, but they are also anonymous. Is this just basically saying that they are highly recommended? I also could be recalling that incorrectly too.

I don't think he'll add modules for other topics as he did not do that for Chem 14A. I would recommend taking the post-module practice exams first and see how you do (since it tells you what you got wrong or right) and go from there (i.e. watch the module if necessary).

The modules he posted will likely be the only ones available for this quarter, but they are good review for the midterm and final as well and I would recommend doing them as practice for those.

Not required, though I recommend just taking the post-assessment sections. These will be the most efficient practice for tests, and will help you figure out what you don't really know.

The modules are an extremely helpful review for subjects you might be a little rusty on, and I recommend doing the assessments to complement the lectures and homework.

They're not mandatory, but they are very helpful especially when studying for tests or the midterm/final.
