What is the common preference for the units for ΔHvap, ΔHfus, ΔHsub? Is it joules or kilojoules? Because in problem 8.37, the answer is in kilojoules, but would we be incorrect if we answered in joules?

You should be consistent with units. If they say kJ in the problem, use kJ if they say J then use J. I think it will be specified in problems on the test though.

They shouldn't take off points if you use kJ unless they specifically say to use joules. But it is important to keep in mind that joules is the SI unit for energy.

As long as you follow the units in the question you should be fine!

I don't think it should really matter, but for safety, I would be consistent with the units that were presented initially in the problem.
