Re: Type of systems
An isolated and a closed system are two different types of systems. A closed system can exchange energy, but not matter with its surroundings. An isolated system can't exchange matter or energy with its surroundings.

Re: Type of systems
No, an isolated system allows neither energy or matter transfer, but a closed system allows only energy transfer.

they are different systems- and closed system can exchange energy but not matter with its surroundings while an isolated system cant exchange either one

Re: Type of systems
No, a closed system can still exchange energy with its surroundings while an isolated system cannot.
Using examples Professor Lavelle gave, an example of a closed system would be a beaker with a seal on top, so no matter can be exchanged but the surroundings can still interact with the outside of the beaker and exchange energy.
An example of an isolated system would be a closed beaker WITH some kind of insulation cover surrounding it. This insulation will prevent the surroundings from coming into contact with the beaker and therefore no energy will be exchanged.

An isolated system and a closed system are two different types of systems. An isolated system has no contact with its surroundings, neither energy nor matter can interact with the system. A closed system has a fixed amount of matter but it can exchange energy with its surroundings.

isolated systems does not allow either energy or matter transfer. A closed system only allows energy transfer

Re: Type of systems
No. Isolated systems don't allow either energy transfers or matter transfers while closed systems still allow energy transfer. For example, closed systems could still absorb heat.
Re: Type of systems
Isolated systems have to be closed but they also don't allow the passage of heat or energy with their s.urroundings

Re: Type of systems
No, because they are two distinct types of systems. An isolated system does not allow energy or matter transfer, whereas a closed system allows energy transfer.

Re: Type of systems
An isolated and closed system are different things. A closed system allows for the exchange of energy in and out of the system. However it does not allow matter to move in and out. On the other hand, an isolated system is completely closed off and does not allow the transfer or heat or energy.
