### Isothermal

On a test or midterm will we be told if the system is Isothermal?

### Re: Isothermal

I think it will be stated in the questions, but if it doesn't specifically say isothermal, it would say that temperature remains constant.

### Re: Isothermal

Typically the tests will say isothermal, or temperature constant. Unless explicitly stated, you can assume it is isothermal.

### Re: Isothermal

for the most part it should state that it is isothermal or that the temperature is constant.

### Re: Isothermal

Normally it is told that the system is isothermal if it is important for solving the problem.

### Re: Isothermal

If it is not explicitly stated that temperature changes, you can also assume the reaction is isothermal, this also goes with systems in standard state

### Re: Isothermal

The problem will most likely tell you if the system is isothermal, or constant temperature. This is also usually indicated by reversible expansion

### Re: Isothermal

it usually will let you know , however you can also assume if it is at a constant T

### Re: Isothermal

Isothermal is key information when solving a problem as it is in reference to the temperature if it is not explicitly stated we assume temperature would be constant when doing our calculations, hope this helps.

### Re: Isothermal

It will usually indicate that the temperature is constant, but it is safe to assume that the reaction is isothermal.
