Phase change of water

Postby Alex Tchekanov Dis 2k » Thu Jan 23, 2020 1:34 pm

In the phase change of water, there is a plateau point when the temperature isn't changing but the ice turns to water or the water turns to steam, but does that also occur for other molecules? And if so, would they have similar looking graphs?

This happens for more than just water, you can google the phase change of other compounds to find examples.

Other molecules also have plateau points in between phases. I would assume the graph would look somewhat similar, but the energy it takes to change the phase would definitely be different compared to water.
