thermochemistry vs thermodynamics

Postby Sarah Blake-2I » Sun Jan 26, 2020 10:55 am

I know we haven't covered thermodynamics yet, but could someone explain the difference between thermochemistry and thermodynamics? Thanks!

Thermochemistry is just a branch of thermodynamics that involves the heat given off or absorbed during chemical reactions.

Based on the outlines, in thermochemistry it seems like we'll mostly be discussing enthalpy, heat, and work in reactions, while in thermodynamics we'll also start learning about entropy and free energy.
