How do you account for phase changes when calculating enthalpy?

the enthalpy of the phase change should be given

You won't have to calculate it. We will most likely have to refer to a table with enthalpy values.

I believe you are referring to how would we know the phase change value as this needs to be added to the change in bond enthalpies to correctly calculate the change in enthalpy if there is a phase change present. We were not taught how to calculate it in the lecture thus far so I would assume that it would have to be given to us in the question or that we would have a table to look at.

The value of the enthalpy of the phase change would likely be given, and all that we are expected to understand conceptually is that the enthalpy of phase change must be added to the rest of the bond enthalpies to accurately account for all enthalpy changes in the overall reaction.

I am a bit confused on this topic. Could someone please use an example of how phase changes are taken into account?
