reverse fusion

Postby Savannah Mance 4G » Sun Feb 02, 2020 4:42 pm

When something goes from a solid to a liquid instead of liquid to solid in fusion, why is it still going go be a positive enthalpy value?

Enthalpy is positive for solid to liquid and negative for liquid to solid. Going from a solid to a liquid is an exothermic reaction, meaning heat is absorbed by the system during this reaction making the enthalpy positive.
